Building out the Artist Residency

Subtle is home to Lancaster’s first Queer Artist Residency for creatives. Featuring an 1,190 square foot open studio! We are currently in the midst of planning and building out the artist residency with goals to fully furnish with adequate the needs of rotating artists that participate in this program. We have made significant plumbing repairs to get heat up to the fourth floor radiators in the artist residency and replaced a leaky roof with stainless steel roofing!

Subtle is home to Lancaster’s first Queer Artist Residency for creatives. Featuring an 1,190 square foot, we are designing an open studio fully furnished to support our seasonal artists.

Our project plans and needs in creating a suitable artist space and studio are:

  • Updating outlets and lighting

  • Running plumbing to the fourth floor for suitable water and a bay sink

  • Create storage and shelving components, including counter tops, rolling carts, working desk and study space, studio easels, along with good

  • Day lighting lamps

  • Printers

  • Paper cutters

  • Artist pallets and drying racks

  • Room dividers

  • General accommodations to living space, and more.
